Stony Brook University to cut salaries, budgets & freeze hiring – News 12 Long Island

The coronavirus pandemic is forcing drastic action at Stony Brook University.

In a letter from the university’s president, the school is cutting salaries and budgets and will freeze hiring.

The university is also using 50% of its $80 million reserve fund to cover rising costs.

Stony Brook is running at a deficit of nearly $110 million this academic year.
