WisEye Morning Minute: Wisconsin Policy Forum on Police Budgets – WiscNews

“Municipal law enforcement spending during the past three decades has grown at a pace that has both greatly exceeded inflation and has also exceeded population growth,” Wisconsin Policy Forum president Rob Henken said during a virtual Forum Friday on “Investigating Police Budgets.” Henken highlighted that from 1986 to 2018, municipal spending increased by 262% in raw dollars which translates to nearly 60% after inflation. “It’s worth noting that in every year during this period, law enforcement was the largest municipal spending category in Wisconsin.”
