100 Dollars – 3 Ways To Invest It
Last week I was in my wardrobe, reaching for a dinner jacket I had not worn for over 6 months. I was under order of the boss (read wife) to collect all garments for our yearly dry clean. I tried on this dinner jacket, previewing the cut, it still fitted well. Ready to take it off and put it on the pile on the bed, I dipped my hand into the side pocket and there I found a crisp, clean $100 dollar bill.
Ahh…the excitement of found treasure. I stood there…with a grin on my lips, I only noticed I was grinning when I happened to look to the right in the mirror. Catching myself, I laughed, trying to remember how this found cash got there.
Suddenly an idea sprang to mind as my imagination kicked in. What if this $100 dollar bill was all the money I had. What would I do with this money, if I was in a strange city, with nothing else to my name but the shirt on my back and this $100 dollar bill. The following is the result of my mental exercise.
The first thing I would do is look for a market in this imaginary town. When I say market, I mean anywhere there is a reasonable amount of people congregating with disposable income. My first instinct would be to find “demand” and ascertain what would be a good thing to supply to this market. Lets say, I notice a busy beach with a board walk where many people are walking around taking in the sun. This would qualify as a market.
My goal would be to try and double my money as quickly as possible. Maybe I would invest in some art materials and draw silly cartoons at $10 per job. Or maybe I would buy a cheap guitar and busk. Once I doubled my money, I would continue until I had enough to invest in larger investments like cheap cars, then land then real estate, using the profits at each level, to re-invest. The joys of found money:)
